मुम्बई। एमके फिल्म एंड टेलीविजन प्रोडक्शन के बैनर तले निर्मित की जा रही निर्देशक एम आर खान की वेब सीरीज “सुन” एवं “जिसकी लाठी उसकी भैंस” के पोस्टर मुम्बई के इम्पा थिएटर में लांच किए गए। दोनों सीरीज के प्रोमो स्क्रीन पर दिखाए गए जहां सभी ने प्रोमो और इसके कॉन्सेप्ट को पसन्द किया। मुम्बई के पूर्व एसीपी संजय पाटिल इस कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि थे। साथ ही निर्माता एमके राजपूत और दिनेश के ढाबी की उपस्थिति भी दर्ज की गई।

In a chilling exposé of a deeply entrenched practice within certain Muslim communities, filmmaker and writer Neeraj Singh is set to release a short film ” The Female Khatna” that sheds light on the harrowing reality of female circumcision, also known as Khatna. This controversial practice, which involves the cutting of the private parts of young girls aged 9-10, is a stark reminder of the physical and mental anguish endured by countless women even today.

While many are aware of the male circumcision tradition within Muslim society, few realize that a similar ritual is inflicted upon young girls in certain communities. This practice is not only a violation of the body but also leaves deep psychological scars that persist throughout a woman’s life. Despite legal prohibitions and social condemnation, the practice continues in secrecy, upheld by religious leaders and community pressure.

Neeraj Singh, known for his bold storytelling and willingness to tackle sensitive issues, has spent extensive time researching the topic. He uncovered that the practice of female circumcision is particularly prevalent among the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community. In this community, the ritual, referred to as Khafz, involves the removal of the clitoral hood and, in some cases, the entire external genitalia. The procedure is often carried out without anesthesia, leading to severe pain, trauma, and lifelong complications.

During his research, Neeraj spoke to numerous women who had undergone Khatna. These women, now in their 30s and 40s, shared their painful experiences with him, recounting the lasting impact on their physical and mental health. Many described how they continue to suffer during sexual intercourse, enduring the pain inflicted upon them in childhood. The stigma associated with not being circumcised further exacerbates their suffering, as uncircumcised women are often shunned within their communities and face difficulties in finding marriage partners.

Neeraj revealed that these women confided in him under the condition of anonymity, fearing retribution from their communities. They spoke of the immense social pressure to conform to this practice, with circumcised women being regarded as pure and virtuous, while those who escape the ritual are ostracized and deemed unworthy.

While the practice of female circumcision is not widespread across India, it continues to thrive in pockets of certain Muslim communities, particularly among the Dawoodi Bohra. Despite growing awareness and efforts to curb the practice, it remains deeply rooted in tradition and religious belief, perpetuated by those who claim it is a necessary rite of passage.

Neeraj Singh’s short film aims to bring this hidden reality to the forefront, challenging societal norms and sparking conversations about the rights and dignity of women. The film, which is being produced for the International Film Festival circuit, will also be released on several major OTT platforms, ensuring it reaches a global audience.

In speaking about the project, Neeraj emphasized the importance of exposing the truth and giving a voice to the voiceless. “This is not just a film; it’s a statement against a barbaric practice that has no place in modern society. These women have suffered in silence for too long, and it’s time the world hears their stories,” he said.

By bringing this issue to the screen, Neeraj hopes to inspire change and encourage communities to abandon harmful traditions that violate human rights. His film is not just a condemnation of female circumcision, but also a call to action for society to protect the most vulnerable members—young girls who deserve to grow up free from fear and pain.

As the film prepares for its international debut, it is poised to make a significant impact on audiences and ignite a much-needed dialogue on the subject. Neeraj Singh’s courage in tackling such a sensitive and controversial issue is commendable, and his work is a powerful reminder of the role of art in challenging societal injustices and advocating for change.

The first day of the pageant came to a vibrant close with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony and a lively DJ party. In a nod to unity and festivity, everyone embraced the evening’s theme by donning striking red attire, adding an extra touch of excitement to the celebration.

The morning of the second day unfolded with an exhilarating start as the semi-finals took the spotlight. This vibrant session featured the much-anticipated introduction round, question and answer round as well as the  talent round, where contestants dazzled with their diverse and remarkable abilities. The semi-finals also included the elegant subtitle crowning ceremony, celebrating individual achievements and special titles.

As evening approached, the grandeur of the pageant continued with the highly anticipated finale. The event showcased a stunning National Costume round, where contestants paraded in elaborate and culturally rich ensembles that highlighted their creativity and heritage. This was followed by the Evening Wear walk, a display of sophistication and style as the contestants glided down the runway in glamorous evening attire. The night culminated in a prestigious awards ceremony, where the pageant’s winner and other distinguished awardees were honored for their outstanding excellence and achievements.

We are also overjoyed to share the exciting news that this year, the exceptionally gifted Sunoshini Dhanabalan, all the way from Malaysia graced us with her presence to train, mentor, and coach our contestants in the art of the catwalk. Under her masterful guidance, the contestants captivated onlookers, lighting up the ramp with an extraordinary blend of elegance and flair, and infusing each stride with a striking edge that set their performances apart

23 अगस्त को रिलीज होने वाली कॉमेडी हिंदी फिल्म “रंगीला दारूवाला” का ट्रेलर व म्युज़िक लॉन्च मुम्बई के इम्पा थिएटर में किया गया। फ़िल्म के निर्माता निर्देशक संजीव आर सिंह हैं जबकि इस फ़िल्म में डैशिंग स्टार अशोका ठाकुर और गंगा अधिकारी ने मुख्य भूमिका निभाई है। फिल्म के निर्माता संजीव आर सिंह, चेतन प्रभुदास झाला और रवीना हैं। गा मोशन पिक्चर्स और लैंडमार्क मोशन पिक्चर्स के बैनर तले बनी इस फ़िल्म में शाह आलम ने दारूवाला का किरदार निभाया है जबकि क्रिएटिव डायरेक्टर सत्याजीत राजपूत ने भी फ़िल्म में एक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। फ़िल्म के लेखक आनंद राव हैं।

इस अवसर पर कॉमेडियन सुनील पाल भी मौजूद रहे जिन्होंने फ़िल्म में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है। फ़िल्म के पोस्टर पर इसकी टैगलाइन लिखी है “नो लॉजिक, नो मैजिक ओनली एंटरटेनमेंट”।

फ़िल्म के निर्माता निर्देशक संजीव आर सिंह डीओपी भी हैं। बतौर सिनेमेटोग्राफर उन्होंने काफी फिल्में की हैं और अब निर्देशक के रूप में इस फ़िल्म से अपनी पारी शुरू करने जा रहे हैं। उनका कहना है कि यह बेहद सिचुएशनल कॉमेडी है जिसमे सभी एक्टर्स ने बड़ी मेहनत और शिद्दत से काम किया है। अशोका ठाकुर वास्तव में डैशिंग स्टार हैं जबकि गंगा ने इसमे नेचुरल एक्टिंग की है।

इस अवसर पर फ़िल्म का ट्रेलर दिखाया गया जिसे सभी ने खूब सराहा। फिर फ़िल्म के तीन गाने दैय्या रे आइटम सॉन्ग, टाइटल सॉन्ग और रोमांटिक गीत दिखाया गया जिसे सभी ने पसन्द किया। रोमांटिक गीत पर हीरो हीरोइन अशोका और गंगा ने बहुत सुंदर डांस प्रस्तुत किया।

फ़िल्म के डैशिंग स्टार अशोका ठाकुर की भी यह पहली पिक्चर है और वह इसको लेकर काफी उत्साहित हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि ऎक्ट्रेस गंगा के साथ काम करने का उनका अनुभव बहुत अच्छा रहा। फ़िल्म बेहद हंसाएगी और भरपूर मनोरंजन भी करेगी। संजीव सिंह जी बेमिसाल निर्देशक हैं।

हसीन अभिनेत्री गंगा अधिकारी ने कहा कि उन्हें इस फ़िल्म से काफी आशाएं हैं। बेहद कॉमिक टाइमिंग वाली फ़िल्म है। निर्माता निर्देशक संजीव सिंह ने इसे बड़े पैशन के साथ बनाया है। इसके गाने भी बहुत ही अच्छे हैं।

Penned by the renowned Indian lyricist and screenwriter, Padma Shri Awardee Prasoon Joshi, the musical offers audiences a journey into the lesser-known tales of Shri Krishna. It beautifully depicts his transitions from Vraj to Mewar and Mathura to Dwarka.

Under the direction of Shruti Sharma, a seasoned theatre director with expertise in musical theatre, the production showcases the talents of over 180 artists, vividly bringing to life the convergence of Shri Krishna’s divine forms, as his Shrinathji and Dwarkadheesh swaroops are portrayed together for the first time in a musical play. From Krishna’s playful escapades as the mischievous cowherd in Gokul, endearing himself to the village folk, to his profound role as the wise charioteer imparting the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the musical captures the essence of Krishna’s multifaceted persona in a spellbinding manner.

Its allure is heightened by a soul-stirring soundtrack containing 20 original songs composed by ace music composer duo Sachin-Jigar. The music blends Western symphonic elements, specially recorded in Budapest, with Indian classical music, along with Haveli Sangeet, Rajasthani and Gujarati folk, and Hindustani semi-classical genres.

Award-winning Bollywood production designer Omung Kumar intricately weaves scenes that transport viewers to ancient India. The show is creatively produced by seasoned professionals Parthiv Gohil and Viral Rachh, with National Award-winning writer Raam Mori providing in-depth story research.

Choreographers Bertwin D’Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna’s exquisite dance sequences, performed by over 60 dancers, further immerse viewers in the vibrant world of Krishna. क्षेत्रीय कलाकारों को मौका देने के लिए बनाई गई, फिल्म सतना के पास हुई है शूटिंग

इंदौर. स्थानीय कलाकारों के हुनर को दुनिया के सामने लाने के लिए अविनाश फिल्म्स और मेक्सन बैटरी के बैनर तले कॉमेडी फिल्म ‘कुंवारापुर’ बनाई है। फिल्म के डायरेक्टर राजेंद्र राठौर की यह पहली थियेटर रिलीज फिल्म है, जो 9 अगस्त को सिनेमाघर में आ रही है। फिल्म के मुख्य कलाकार असरानी, विक्रम कोचर, अविनाश तिवारी, अन्नपूर्णा द्विवेदी, गरिमा अग्रवाल, उर्मिला शर्मा के साथ स्थानीय कलाकारों ने भी शानदार अभिनय किया है। फिल्म के निर्माता लक्ष्मण बर्फा है। रतलाम के सैलाना के रहने वाले डायरेक्टर राजेंद्र राठौर मुंबई में काम कर रहे हैं। वह अब तक 50 विज्ञापन फिल्में और 10 म्यूजिक वीडियो के साथ शॉर्ट फिल्म और वेब सीरीज बना चुके हैं। उनके निर्देशन में सोनू सूद, हेमा मालिनी, उर्वशी रौतेला, भाग्यश्री, गौहर खान जैसे कई कलाकार काम कर चुके हैं।

डायरेक्टर राजेंद्र राठौर ने बताया की – अभी तक मध्य प्रदेश का कोई रीजनल सिनेमा नहीं है। इस फिल्म के माध्यम से मालवा और निमाड़ को प्रेजेंट किया है। यह फिल्म मध्य प्रदेश के क्षेत्रीय सिनेमा की शुरुआत है। इस फिल्म के माध्यम से हम स्थानीय कलाकारों को पहचान दिलाना चाहते हैं ताकि इन्हें भी बड़े पर्दे पर काम करने का मौका मिले। मध्य प्रदेश में युवाओं में प्रतिभा की कमी नहीं है लेकिन हर कोई मुंबई जाकर अपना सपना पूरा नहीं कर सकता इसलिए इस क्षेत्र में फिल्म सिटी बनना चाहिए जिससे इन्हें बाहर नहीं जाना पड़े।

फिल्म की एक्ट्रेस अन्नपूर्णा द्विवेदी ने बताया कि – फिल्म की शूटिंग मध्य प्रदेश के सतना के पास उमरिया और खमरिया गांव में की गई है। इसकी भाषा में भी क्षेत्रीय बोली सुनने को मिलेगी। इसे मध्य प्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ़, महाराष्ट्र और उत्तर प्रदेश में रिलीज किया जाएगा। फिल्म के एक्टर अविनाश तिवारी बघेलखंड के सुपरस्टार है, यह पारिवारिक और कॉमेडी फिल्म है जिसमें दहेज प्रथा के खिलाफ संदेश दिया गया है।

फिल्म के एक्ट्रेस अविनाश तिवारी ने बताया कि- कुंवारापुर फिल्म की कहानी एक गांव की है, जहां पिछले 10 सालो से किसी की शादी नहीं हुई है क्योंकि गांव शापित है है। हमारे हीरो पप्पू की गलती से शादी तय हो जाती है और पूरे गांव को बारात में जाना है। इस बात को हास्य के माध्यम से कहानी में पिरोया गया है। दूसरी और फिल्म की नायिका मांगलिक है। उसका विवाह गलती से पप्पू से होता है। दोनों पक्ष एक–दूसरे से अपनी असलियत छिपाते है। यही फिल्म का तानाबाना है।

Recently Dr. Piyali Roy was crowned Mrs. Universe India USA 2024 in New Delhi. Piyali Roy will be representing India & USA collectively in her upcoming international pageant 47th Mrs Universe 2024 in South Korea in October 2024.

Dr. Piyali Roy, an India Born Dental Surgeon practicing in USA, a New York University DDS, is also a Cornell University and IIFT-Delhi campus fashion designing alumni, will be showcasing her design in Milan Fashion Week & Paris Fashion Week in Sept 2024, infront of international fashion audience and media.

The entire nation eagerly awaited the announcement of the Union Budget 2024, a pivotal document charting the course for India’s burgeoning economy under the Modi 3.0 regime. Contrary to expectations of a budget solely focused on growth and development, this comprehensive budget addressed both growth and welfare. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined four focal areas: ‘Garib’ (Poor), ‘Mahilayen’ (Women), ‘Yuva’ (Youth), and ‘Annadata’ (Farmer).

To ensure the all-around development and upliftment of these pillars of the Indian economy, the government delineated nine budget priorities, serving as a roadmap towards a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). This budget not only reinforced the government’s commitment to holistic development across all sectors but also underscored its dedication to a sustainable future.

The announcement of the Union Budget 2024 sent ripples across financial markets and sparked a wave of enthusiasm. Numerous industry leaders across various sectors praised the strategic vision and anticipated impact of these announcements.

Here’s what the industry leaders had to say:

Providing an overview of the possible developments in the financial markets, Mr. Tarun Singh, Managing Director of Highbrow Securities said, “The Union Budget has impacted the buoyant stock market, but its effect feels more symbolic than substantial. The fundamental impact on investors will be negligible, as any changes in capital gains taxation will soon be factored into future plans. The market sentiment will remain conducive for investors. However, the budget’s opportunistic flavour cannot be ignored. On a brighter note, the budget’s incremental yet pivotal steps towards fostering an inclusive manufacturing and MSME landscape are commendable. The proposed initiative lays a sustainable and secure foundation for investors to explore emerging opportunities within this vital economic segment.

One of the key standout aspects of this budget is its respect for the existing consumption patterns. In the market realm, consumption is king, and any disturbance to this trend could ripple negatively across the economic spectrum. By preserving the status quo here, the budget has safeguarded the ongoing consumption story that fuels market growth. The Stock Markets, thus, can absorb minor setbacks and continue on a bullish path, backed by stable and robust consumer demand.

In my opinion, this budget is neither extravagant nor groundbreaking, but sometimes, not rocking the boat is an act of wisdom. This Union Budget may not sparkle with dramatic flair, but its understated elegance might very well be the unsung hero of our economic narrative this year. I am anticipating a favourable year ahead, with markets expected to benefit from sustained consumption and emerging opportunities in the revitalised MSME and Manufacturing sectors.”

Devam Sardana, Business Head, Lemonn, addressed the impact of LTCG and STCG changes on the financial markets, but provided a different viewpoint on the same. He said, “Lot of people asking the impact of STT, STCG and LTCG on the equity market participants but instead of the impact of direct factors, I believe the removal of indexation benefits on real estate, gold etc will have a major impact on the equity markets and participants (and that too a positive one). From a real estate standpoint, I see 3 major things:

1. Secondary market for real estate will be hit as sellers will be unwilling to absorb the full impact of the potential tax increase ( no indexation benefits)
2. Buyers looking for investing in properties ( beyond residential use) will step back a bit. The government recognises this and has therefore “urged” states to reduce the stamp duties
3. Potential cash transactions or share of cash in real estate might increase and this might lead to increased scrutiny of real estate transactions.
4. Overall, this makes real estate as an asset class less attractive compared to pre-Budget rules. Of course, if one is looking to re-invest capital gains from real estate in another property, there is no change for them. With regards to the question on STT, STCG and LTCG, there is minimal impact on the equity markets but when looked at the competitors of equity as an asset class namely gold, real estate – investors can breathe a sigh of relief!”
5. “We welcome the Budget 2024-25 as a people-friendly and pro-development budget. This year’s budget has paved the way for India by focusing on employment and skilling opportunities. We appreciate the various initiatives announced by the Honourable Finance Minister, focusing on the nine critical priorities—ranging from productivity and resilience in agriculture to next-generation reforms—demonstrating a comprehensive approach to fostering sustainable growth and development.
6. For future leaders, these priorities offer a robust foundation to build upon and will create dynamic opportunities for innovation and leadership in these vital sectors. We believe that the budget, along with conducive policies and regulatory reforms, will facilitate research and development, and foster a culture of innovation, across sectors. Interestingly, Mr. Ashish Singhal, Co-founder, CoinSwitch, had a different outlook of the 2024 Union Budget. “We welcome the Union Budget 2024-25 as a pro-development budget bringing great news for startups. As a founder and angel investor, I’m thrilled that the Angel Tax has been abolished. This will significantly bolster the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. The emphasis on digital public infrastructure and the digitalization of the economy will greatly benefit tech startups like ours, which are focused on developing population-scale apps for Indians.
9. Regarding crypto, we had hoped the government would reduce taxation to align it with other asset classes. Unfortunately, this has not been addressed, representing a missed opportunity to support startups and investors in the crypto space. We are still examining the finer details of the budget to fully understand its broader implications,” said Singhal.
10. Roland Landers, CEO, All India Gaming Federation, welcomed the focus on skilling in the Budget 2024. He said, “There remains a significant skill gap in India’s gaming industry, and the increased emphasis on skilling initiatives is a promising step towards bridging this gap. शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में कार्य करते हुए भाग्य मंदिर परिवार ने बुंदेलखंड क्षेत्र के लगभग 53 गांवों में मुफ्त कोचिंग सेंटर आरम्भ किये हैं। सामान्य बच्चों के साथ उन बच्चों पर अधिक ध्यान दिया जाता है जो बिल्कुल अशिक्षित है और किसी भी सरकारी या निजी स्कूलों में नही पढ़ पा रहे हैं । लखनऊ के बालागंज क्षेत्र में भी भाग्य मंदिर शिक्षा केंद्र का सुभारम्भ किया गया हैं और धीरे धीरे और भी जिलों में भाग्य मन्दिर शिक्षा केंद्रों की स्थापना की जा रही है । भाग्य मंदिर परिवार के द्वारा योग की निःशुल्क कक्षा मुहैया कराई जाती है ।

प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा,एक्यूप्रेशर के साथ ही जरूरतमंद के लिए हर प्रकार की चिकित्सा व्यवस्था का अधिक से अधिक लाभ हेतु भाग्य मंदिर परिवार की ओर से लगातार जागरूकता शिविर चलाये जाते रहे हैं जिनसे अभी तक लगभग 11600 लोगो को लाभ प्राप्त हुआ है।

अन्नदान कार्यक्रम के तहत आर्थिक संकट के कारण भरपेट भोजन नही कर पाने वालों के लिए भाग्य मंदिर परिवार हर सप्ताह अलग अलग अन्नदान के शिविरों में लगभग 10 हज़ार से अधिक लोगो को अन्नदान करके उनकी क्षुधा को शांत करता है।

As India’s full-year Union Budget for FY25 approaches, anticipation builds among various industries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and senior bureaucrats have recently met with eminent economists at Niti Aayog to discuss strategies for furthering economic growth. This crucial meeting sets the stage for the Modi administration to outline its vision for the next five years in the upcoming budget.

During the interim budget presentation on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047.’ The detailed roadmap for achieving this vision is expected to be unveiled in the full budget on July 23.

Here are the expectations and insights from key experts across the sector for the budget in July 2024:

Mr. Himanshu Kohli, Co-founder, Client Associates: “The Indian Government will present its first full-fledged Budget for FY 2024-25 on July 23, and there are already positive expectations surrounding the measures to be announced that day. If we look at this government’s track record, it has always been business as usual, and the major policy announcements have typically been laid down outside the budget. This time will not be different, and it will also be a growth-focused and reform-oriented budget aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth.  

We expect the government to maintain fiscal prudence by lowering the fiscal deficit target to 5% from 5.1%, as mentioned in the Interim budget. The RBI’s decision to transfer a record INR 2.11 trillion as a dividend to the government will assist the government in maintaining fiscal consolidation. We also expect the government to increase revenue expenditure through higher transfers to states for capital expenditure or by raising transfers to farmers through PM Kisan from INR 6000 to INR 8000 annually.  

It is a well-known fact that India continues to be the fastest-growing economy globally, but our data shows alarming consumption trends. Hence, along with measures to bring down interest rates, there will be incentives for increasing consumption through tax cuts or other measures to boost rural spending. Capex has always been a focus area in previous budgets, and this time, it will not be any different, which will be a big positive for maintaining sustainable and resilient economic growth. Another priority area for the government will be affordable housing for the urban and rural poor, which will, in turn, positively impact the industrial and consumer goods sectors. The government has already started working on this front by approving three crores more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Finally, we expect the government to enhance its support for the startup culture in India via GIFT City. This could be achieved by encouraging foreign-domiciled Indian startups to relocate their corporate headquarters to India through GIFT City or by providing more tax breaks for companies to come in via the GIFT City route. 

While there is a general expectation that the budget will focus more on populist measures, we believe the government will still prioritize prudent fiscal management and economic growth. There is also likely to be a focus on targeted social welfare programs for both urban and rural poor. Overall, there are positive expectations for the budget, as it will set the policy tone for the next five years, potentially impacting the markets and the economy.

I foresee significant initiatives aimed at investment in human capital, improved credit access, streamlined listing processes, extended moratoriums, lower interest rates, and interest subvention schemes. 

These measures are poised to empower MSMEs by reducing operational costs, enabling them to expand their customer base, and enhancing their competitiveness on a global scale. This, in turn, will significantly contribute to India’s trajectory towards becoming a global economic superpower.

This will ultimately strengthen the overall economic framework, driving sustainable growth and development. As we look ahead, it is imperative that the budget reflects a deep commitment to bolstering the MSME sector, ensuring its resilience and growth in the face of global challenges.”

Ashish Singhal, Co-founder, CoinSwitch: “As the government prepares for the upcoming Union Budget 2024-25, we urge them to create a conducive regulatory and tax environment that supports the burgeoning digital economy and fosters innovation. The current taxation framework for Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs), introduced over two years back in the Feb 2022 Budget, has led to unintended consequences even for the Govt and the exchequer, primarily via a massive shift in VDA transactions to offshore platforms, impacting tracking and tracing of such transactions.

We believe that with a new Government in place, and to capitalise on India’s Web3 opportunity, a relook at the tax treatment on VDAs in the July 2024 Union Budget will be very timely. Some of our budget recommendations are as follows:

• Reduce TDS Rate on VDAs: Lower the rate of TDS on the transfer of VDAs from 1% to 0.01% under Section 194S to bring the majority of VDA transactions within the tax oversight mechanism, to improve tax compliance, and prevent capital flight.
• Allow Loss Offset: Allow the offset of losses similar to other sectors to encourage responsible trading practices and reduce the risk of tax evasion.
• Re-examine Flat 30% Tax Rate: Re-examine the flat rate of 30% applicable to income from the transfer of VDAs to ensure parity with other tech-enabled sectors.
• Additionally, the threshold of Rs 10,000 / Rs 50,000 can also be revisited. Most of the crypto sellers (mainly individuals) are in the low-income bracket. Increasing the threshold will reduce the administrative burden on the tax department in processing refunds.

These adjustments can help the government create an environment where digital assets can thrive, contribute significantly to economic growth, and achieve the vision of steering India towards becoming a $5 trillion economy.”

Dr. Alok Misra, CEO & Director of MFIN: “Mainstreaming of CGSMFI scheme for guaranteeing bank loans to MFIs. CGSMFI, which was launched by Department of Financial Services (DFS) was hugely successful in guaranteeing about Rs 7,200 Cr of bank loans to 38 MFIN member MFIs and 99% of that was on-lent to almost 17.75 Lk microfinance borrowers. CGSMFI will be a huge support to the sector, as liquidity stress is inherent in NBFC-MFIs across all sizes. 

* A customised guarantee scheme for regulated entity (RE) loans to microfinance borrowers which has a lower guarantee ceiling (up to Rs 5 Lk), reasonable guarantee fee without any risk premium, shorter lock-in period (up to 9 months) and single tranche settlement facility. In combination with CGSMFI, such a scheme will not only help in mitigating credit risk of the REs but also has the potential to lower cost of funds and thereby lower interest rates for the end client. 

* To address the challenge of lack of access to low-cost debt from banks which has a spiralling effect on sustainability of NBFC-MFIs, growth and in fulfilling the credit needs of their clients, a dedicated refinance facility of Rs 30,000 Cr may be set-up under the aegis of SIDBI or NABARD for on-lending to NBFC-MFIs at lower cost. Terms and conditions applicable for such refinance facility should be such that it suits MFIs of different sizes. The funding should be at viable but not commercial rates, so that end client gets the benefit of lower interest rate. 

* Further, India Micro finance Equity Fund (IMEF) be enhanced to Rs 1,000 Cr (from present Rs 300 Cr) so that the equity needs of small and mid-sized players are met effectively. The criteria of support under IMEF needs to be reviewed so that the benefits can be far reached to various sizes of NBFC-MFIs. At present, it remains poorly utilised.”

Mr. Naman Jhawar, Partner and Head of India & SEA, Picus Capital: “As we look ahead to Union Budget 2024, it holds immense potential to propel innovation and economic growth forward. Streamlining regulatory frameworks to facilitate startup access to capital and scale operations is crucial. Increased allocation towards digital infrastructure, particularly in AI, fintech, and clean energy, promises transformative outcomes. Incentives for research and development will not only stimulate indigenous innovation but also attract global investments. Venture capitalists have emphasized the urgent need for the government to establish a new fund to support startups focusing on emerging technologies like AI, akin to subsidies provided in other sectors. Additionally, they advocate for fostering a robust research and development ecosystem in climate technology within India, ensuring clear commercialization pathways to retain local talent and intellectual property and prevent migration overseas. Simplifying tax regimes and enhancing compliance mechanisms are essential steps to improve the ease of doing business. By prioritizing these measures, the government can foster an environment conducive to entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic resilience. This budget presents a pivotal opportunity for India to solidify its position as a global hub for innovation and technology-driven growth.” 

Mr. Mayank Bhatnagar, Co-founder and COO, FinEdge: “The Government would keep a close watch on the fiscal deficit target. With a fiscal deficit target of 4.5%, the government would look at boosting tax collections and keep a check on non-plan expenditure. The government is also pursuing its goal for India to become a manufacturing hub and a preferred manufacturing destination. Hence, we expect a renewed focus on creating world class infrastructure with higher allocation in sectors like Railways, Roadways, Renewable Power generation, Ports and Airports etc.

On the personal income tax front, we expect the basic limit of tax exemption to be increased from Rs. 3,00,000/- to 5,00,000/- under the new tax regime. We could also see an increase in the limit of standard deduction thereby increasing more money in the hands of the taxpayer. The government could also consider an increase in tax exemption limit under Section 80C and section 80D. In an effort to promote savings towards retirement, the government should provide additional tax deductions for investment in retirement benefit schemes like NPS (National Pension Scheme).

We also expect to see initiatives for financial inclusion specifically for women. Special tax saving schemes for women and incentivizing women to invest would be measures that could contribute to a more inclusive and diverse investment landscape.”
